With early diagnosis, even the most dangerous diseases can be overcome. Herewith, the laboratory technology we use today does not always have enough sensitivity, and for instance, oncological diseases are sometimes detected at a time when the cancer is already progressing.

The developments of Russian scientists, including ultra-precise microfluidic lab-on-a-chip for diagnosing the viral or bacterial nature of the infection will significantly improve the diagnosis methods.

FMN Laboratory team together with the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Moscow State University have developed and experimentally tested a microfluidic device for the automatic separation of bacteria and viruses. The efficiency of the new method, which has no microfluidic analogs in the world today, has reached 81% (Scientific Reports, Nature Publishing Group).
