FMN Laboratory is a scientific & educational center conducting practical researches in the field of the elemental base on new physical principles, nanophotonics, and optics, bioanalytical platforms such as “lab-on-a-chip”, MEMS and thin-film technologies. We benefit from a unique combination of a highly professional team, advanced technologies, as well as a complex of equipment and infrastructure subsystems that have no analogs in Russia today. The revolutionary technologies developed by FMN Laboratory engineers are an integral part of scientific and production projects in Russia and worldwide.New article in Scientific Reports

In the article, we demonstrate the optical medium for surface plasmon-polariton wave (SPP) propagation with ultra low losses corresponding to the theoretically limited values. The unique element of the optical medium is an atomically-flat single-crystalline silver thin film that provides extremely low losses. The SPP excited on the surface of such thin films (λ = 780 nm) is characterized by a SPP propagation length equal to 200 µm, which is twice...Learn moreEmbrace the Future: FMB Laboratory team synthesized materials with a record length of surface plasmon-polariton wave
In the article "Toward a theoretically limited SPP propagation length above two hundred microns on an ultra-smooth silver surface", we demonstrate the optical medium for surface plasmon-polariton wave (SPP) propagation with ultra low losses corresponding to the theoretically limited values.Learn moreMaking data “unhackable”: structures of the world’s brightest single-photon source produced at FMN Laboratory
Unique results presented in a new article in NANO Letters. In the publication, we demonstrate ultrabright single-photon emission from photostable nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in nanodiamonds coupled to plasmonic nanocavities made of low-loss single-crystalline silver.Learn moreENSURE PROGRESS
PUSH THE BOUNDARIESSince the comprehensive update in 2015, FMN Laboratory has been a key platform for scientific and engineering discoveries that ensure Russia's progress in quantum technologies, nanophotonics, biotechnology and special promising technological areas.
From undergraduate and postgraduate students to world-renowned scientists, we attract leading experts and give them the opportunity to make history using unique equipment and infrastructure.
Our special task is to educate young scientific and engineering staff. By implementing the “Russian method of teaching”, we are growing a new generation of engineers, technologists, and scientists.
Carrying out dozens of tests daily, our team is approaching the main goal – developing the element base for the future of the Russian quantum processor and other breakthrough solutions.

Dream Team to reach the most ambitious goals
Our team is a fusion of youth and experience, consisting of more than 50 employees and including experienced professionals and world-famous scientists, process engineers and designers, young graduate students and postgraduate students. We are actively involving leading Russian specialists living abroad in the implementation of scientific research, experimental design and industrial developments with a view to their further return to Russia. A special priority is the education of young scientific and engineering personnel. By implementing the “Russian method of teaching”, we attract students from Russian partner universities and form a new generation of engineers, technologists, and scientists.
Cutting-edge complex infrastructure
FMN Laboratory infrastructure design and implementation were carried out jointly with leading Russian and world companies. The center benefits from a three-stage 99.9995% air purification, four-stage vibration isolation system for highly sensitive technological equipment, ultra-pure deionized water with particle filtering up to 20 nm, a system for providing especially clean special gases.High-class equipment of leading world manufacturers
In 2015, FMN Laboratory was equipped with the latest generation of equipment from leading world manufacturers such as Carl Zeiss (Germany), Karl Suss (Germany), Oxford Plasma Technology (England), Raith (Germany), Heidelberg (Germany), KLA-Tencor (USA), YES (USA), Sentech (Germany), Nikon (Japan), Ramgraber (Germany), Woolam (USA), etc. The capabilities of the technological complex include the processes of electron beam, laser and optical lithography, thin film deposition, plasma-chemical, liquid and vapor etching of a wide range of materials, as well as the necessary control and measurement methods, the possibilities of studying new materials and sample preparation.News MARCH 20, 2024The Bauman University will launch contract production of quantum processorsThe goal is to meet the growing need in the Russian Federation for next generation supercomputersFEBRUARY 13, 2024«Россия строит квантовый мир»: победа в фотоконкурсе Общества «Знание»Снимок фотографа МГТУ Сергея Кушлевича среди лучших работ на ВДНХFEBRUARY 8, 2024Анастасия Соловьева и Дмитрий Москалев – лауреаты Премии молодым ученым Правительства МосквыОтмечены достижения в области разработки квантовых устройств обработки информацииDECEMBER 6, 2023В МГТУ состоялся Экспертный совет Bauman DeepTechКоманда НОЦ ФМН представила результаты реализации проектов по Треку «Гибридные вычисления»NOVEMBER 28, 2023Бионанотехнологи НОЦ ФМН приняли участие в конференции АналитБиоПрибор 2023В Санкт-Петербурге были представлены новейшие разработки команды в области создания «органов-на-чипе»NOVEMBER 7, 2023НОЦ ФМН на международных конференциях в КитаеКоманда на форумах Asia Communications and Photonics Conference (ACP) и International Photonics and OptoElectronics Meetings (POEM)NOVEMBER 4, 2023Высокие технологии МГТУ им.
